Many people in Malawi depends on agriculture for their daily lives and almost 70% of its economy comes from agriculture. Agriculture is divided into subsistence and commercial farming. Subsistence farming is the kind of farming in which people grow crops mainly for consumption. It is mostly practiced by smallholder farmers who possess small pieces of land and spent most of their time working in farms of other people. Sometimes they combine both crop production and animal rearing but usually with limited amounts.
Subsistence farming is the kind of farming which produced goods are mainly for sale. The people who practice this possess large lands and more capital and labour is required.
